How do I fix phasing issues in my mix?
Q&A
Jan 26, 2026
Phasing issues in a mix are fixed by using midside EQ to cut low-end stereo information below around 160Hz, which keeps your bass and sub frequencies in mono where they belong. I keep a spectral analyzer like SPAN running on my second monitor at all times, and when I see more side signal than mono signal, that's a red flag for phasing. The first thing I do when mastering any track is cut out the low end on the sides because it makes your sub and bass punch through every single time.
