Spectral synthesis generates sound by analyzing and manipulating the frequency spectrum of a sound, breaking it down into its individual frequency components or partials and allowing you to alter specific frequency bands, add or remove harmonics, or shift spectral content over time. Unlike traditional synthesis methods that operate directly on the waveform, spectral synthesis focuses on the harmonic and inharmonic content, giving you precise control over the timbre and evolution of the sound. I've found that this approach creates complex, evolving textures ranging from natural acoustic-like tones to entirely synthetic soundscapes, and it's one of the most powerful new features in Serum 2.
