How Futureproof Trends works

Futureproof Trends measures movement, not size. Every topic on the board is scored daily from public signals: what creators publish, what communities discuss, what publications cover, and what platforms change. Every signal is linked, so you can check our work.

What we collect

The radar monitors YouTube channels, community discussion, publications and newsletters, tool and platform pages, and chart snapshots. The full list is public on the sources page. Sources are grouped by what they tell us: creator attention, scene movement, demand, and commercial movement.

How momentum is scored

Each topic gets a daily momentum index from 0 to 100, combining four weighted components: demand signals (35 percent), creator attention (35 percent), scene movement (20 percent), and commercial movement (10 percent). When a component has no data on a given day, the remaining components are reweighted rather than silently counted as zero. Velocity and acceleration come from the slope of the momentum series over 7 and 30 day windows.

A topic needs 21 measured days before we show a momentum stage. Until then it is marked baseline building, and the board shows raw evidence counts instead. We would rather show you less than make it up.

How evidence links to topics

Every collected item, whether a video, article, Reddit post, or chart entry, is stored as its own record with its source, publish date, and metrics over time.

Items connect to topics through explicit links. Every link carries a confidence score and the method that made the match: a keyword alias match or a model classification with the model's stated confidence.

Scores are computed only from linked items. Nothing untraceable feeds a number, and the provenance for any topic is inspectable under Evidence on its page.

What the stages mean

Breakout: high momentum with accelerating attention across several source groups
Rising: momentum climbing over both the 7 and 30 day windows
Steady: sustained attention without a strong slope
Cooling: momentum declining from a previously meaningful level
Dormant: little recent evidence

Honest limits

Momentum measures movement across the sources we monitor. It is not market size, revenue, or a prediction. A rising line is not a promise, and our source list, while broad, is not the whole internet. Scoring thresholds are provisional while the first baseline period completes.
