Futureproof Music School vs MasterClass: Which Is Right for You?

MasterClass offers pre-recorded video lessons from celebrity producers like Deadmau5, Armin van Buuren, and Timbaland for $120/year with no personalized feedback. We're $99/month with 24/7 AI coaching from Kadence, expert mentors who are mostly ex-Icon Collective staff, weekly live feedback sessions, and monthly 1-on-1 mentorship. Different approaches for different goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is MasterClass actually useful for learning music production?

MasterClass's production courses from Deadmau5, Armin van Buuren, and Timbaland are inspiring and give you genuine insight into how professionals think. The gap is feedback: no one watches your tracks, answers your specific questions, or adjusts the instruction based on where you're actually stuck. As supplemental inspiration and mindset content, MasterClass is excellent. As a standalone music production education, it lacks the interactive layer that turns watching into skill.

Does MasterClass offer any feedback on your music?

No. MasterClass is entirely passive: you watch pre-recorded lessons and complete exercises, but there's no instructor reviewing your work, no live sessions, and no community of working professionals critiquing your tracks. For passive consumption of high-level creative philosophy, it's well produced. For developing technical production skills that require correction and practice, the lack of feedback is a significant gap.

Can I try Futureproof before committing?

Yes. Futureproof offers a free trial with access to Kadence, live workshops where instructors hear and critique your music, and the full course library. Month-to-month at $99 with no long-term contract.
